Outstanding Aircraft
The 787 has a distinct attraction quotient attached to it that is unmatched by any other aircraft. Even one of the largest jets ever to be built, the Airbus 380 or even the most high-tech Boeing 787 or the longest aircraft, the Boeing 747-8, all fade in comparison to the Boeing 737. It’s a little puzzling as this aircraft is actually very unassuming. It has no eccentricity attached to it and it’s far removed from anything glamorous. As a matter of fact, there are many other jazzier and bigger planes that can easily overshadow the Boeing 737, but this tenacious aircraft has always been able to tirelessly reinvent itself.
The 737 Classics touched a length of upto 36.5 meters which as a good 20% longer than the 737-200 which were more popular. These classics also had the 757’s jazzy new interiors (which were the latest at that point of time). There was a phase during which Boeing started bleeding loyal 737 operators and they slowly started transitioning to the Airbus A320. It was at this point that Boeing decided to revamp the 737 brand and it launched the NG (next Generation) series. Almost every part of the aircraft was either redesigned or retouched and the Boeing 737 started gaining lost ground.
To date, over 6,000 NG 737s have been ordered. This brings the total of 737’s orders to over 10,500 since the time the airplane was launched in 1968. Almost like a motor vehicle, the Boeing 737 has numerous factory-fitted options. It has gravel pits that permit it to run on unpaved airstrips. The original 1960’s engines have noise-dampeners and of course the most noticeable feature is the aircraft’s blended winglets.
The Undisputed Winner
The aircraft will be quieter and will produce 28% more power on 16% less fuel than engines on the current 737s. The blended winglets will be a standard feature across all models and the 737MAX will also sport the super suave “Sky Interior” of the 787 Dreamliner. Boeing has and always be a market leader when it comes to churning out the biggest, the fastest and the most luxurious aircraft.
